Jack Nicholson comes from a very poor family, of Irish origin. He was born April 22, 1937 in Neptune, New Jersey. Her mother, who was then a 14 year old girl confided to her parents and pretends to be her sister. Jack Nicholson only discovered this story in 1975, when Time magazine decided to investigate its origins. He will never know her father, an aviator alcoholic, who leaves his mother and himself, from his birth.
At 17, he moved to Los Angeles to take acting classes. He made his debut in Hollywood by multiplying the odd jobs. It is particularly errand boy for MGM. His first movie role in 1958 in Cry Baby Killer of Us Addis. It multiplies the more or less important roles, in films of series B produced by Roger Coremans which was working cinema greats such as Joe Dante (Gremlins), Paul Bartel (Death Race 2000) Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs ) ... We discover notably in The Terror, a classic B-series directed by Roger Coremans, as an actor at the side of Boris Karloff, but also as co-director. He also made numerous appearances on television series.
It is actually discovered by the public in 1969 in Easy Rider with Dennis Hopper. This cult road movie tells the tragic story of the wanderings of two motorcyclists in America in the 70. That role earned him an Oscar nomination.
Therefore, he has acted and is found especially in Five easy pieces (1970) Bob Rafelson, The Last Detail (1973) Hal Ashby, Chinatown (1974) by Roman Polanski ...
The year 1975 was the year of recognition for Jack Nicholson. Milos Forman offered him the lead role in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, a film that feeling. He plays the role of McMurphy, a most dangerous criminals to escape prison, poses as a lunatic and enters a mental hospital. His masterful performance is the result of intense preparation and methodical drives him to attend the asylums and immerse themselves among fools. It earned him his first Oscar for best actor.
One finds the following year in The Last Tycoon Elia Kazan and in The Missouri Breaks, Arthur Penn, with Marlon Brando is somehow the idol Jack Nicholson. In 1978, he began directing with Goin'south which is a failure.
In 1980, Stanley Kubrick offered him one of the finest roles of his career in the terrifying The Shining. It interprets a writer in search of inspiration that came to stay with his wife and son, a boy with a strange power in a deserted hotel and isolated, murderous past. Gradually possessed by the spirit of play, it goes insane and tries to murder his family. We offer, through a range of expressions most disturbing and terrifying as each other, a masterful performance that remains in our memories.
The 80 will see him take on roles of characters disorders, alcoholic, a little crazy and marginal. He plays in The Postman Always include fewer spectators ring (1981) Bob Rafelson and Terms of endearment (1983) James.L. Brooks. In 1989, he becomes the Joker, demonic and cruel character who seeks to poison the people of Gotham City in Batman of Tim Burton. In 1996, the latter will provide a very impressive double role in his film spoof Mars Attacks!.
In 1995, we were able to admire the beautiful film by Sean Penn, Crossing Guard, a father seeking by every means to avenge the death of his daughter, thrown by an ex-con who tries to rebuild his life. Finally in 1997, he surprised everyone by changing the registry in the film by James L. Brooks, As Good as It Gets. It interprets a New York writer, cantankerous, eccentric and misanthropic whose life and daily routines will be disturbed by the encounter with a waitress friendly, Helen Hunt. It is surprising in that role so he gets a third Oscar for best actor.
It has long been the companion of Angelica Huston, who left after one of the friends of their daughter gave birth to a child by him.

Marlon Brando

Biography
Born April 3, 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska. Marlon Brando Jr. was the son of actress Dorothy Pannebaker. Marlon comes from a family with typical American ancestries Netherlands, Germany, Ireland and ... French (the name was spelled originally Brandeau. A boy (Marlon) and two daughters (Jocelyn and Frances), born of a father representative chemicals and mother passionate about the arts. Dorothy is a pretty woman liberal ideas who paints, sculpts and above is part of the municipal theater. Undoubtedly, it will have a great influence on this son of the gifts and the complex nature occur very early. Joined the Military Academy in Faribault Minnesota, he was fired after a few months and comes home announcing that he will take orders!
He did take a few months to get his parents, who had previously denied, permission to join her sisters in New York. Brando, Jocelyn and Frances live happily with friends bohemians. In summer 1943, one who has never completed any learning, meeting the theater. And he will dedicate it with passion.
Two characters will exert a decisive influence on him: Stanislavsky, considered the father of the modern actor and Stella Adler, who he met in a drama workshop where she teaches. With the latter, is mutual love at first sight, as deep as platonic: it guesses the extraordinary potential of this neurotic beautiful as a god.
Marlon was fascinated by a creative process that led him to work through introspection to bring forth an emotion all the more true as it comes from memory the most hidden, most painful memories. Brando never forget a discipline that aligns its sensitivity to its natural masochism. During this period, Marlon works with passion, or better with perseverance. He learns, through careful observation, concentration carried to the obsession, to dismiss the free effects, unnecessary moves, to be totally possessed by his character. His natural instinct is such that it comes in a few weeks to master his technique. A man then enters her life, which will blow his prodigious gifts. "Articulates, Marlon," cried the director of the back of the room. If this thing loses money, I will at least hear why!
" Thus begins, in 1946, during rehearsals of Truckline Cafe, relations with the young actor who leads from the front in an acting career and director, theater and film: Elia Kazan. Immediately after this film, it connects several small roles in "Candida," Angigone "and" Flag is Born ". It becomes a reliable film. He proposes to interpret the play by Jean Cocteau, "The Eagle Has Two Heads" with Tallulah Bankhead. The first rehearsal was a disaster according to some, Brando multiplied during the monologue antics of his partner, and especially his death turned into a protracted agony that was crying in laughter. Legend or reality? But the conclusion was not long in coming: the actor was replaced the next day. He does not regret. "The Eagle Has Two Heads" was a flop. In 1950,
it runs under the direction of Elia Kazan, the film version of "A Streetcar Named Desire". Marking a clear break with Anglo-Saxon, this film is a blaze improper mixing, hyperreal in a social context, neuroses and sex drive. The choice of Brando for that role is a real stroke of genius: he becomes a star.
As written by Truman Capote, then it is "the ideal image of American youth - dark blond hair, blue-gray eyes, dark complexion, athletic approach: map of the United States is etched on his face". After the play "Hamlet" by Tennessee Williams, he connects with a timeless film that will make jeans and leather jackets: "The Wild One. In this film, he expresses the revolt of a generation by becoming Johnny, a biker rebel.
From there, everything goes so quickly, and in 1954 he won an Oscar for "On the Waterfront". It is then the undisputed star of Hollywood, and turns in every register of the musical (Guys and Dolls), the tragedies (Julius Caesar), the war film (The dance of the damned) or to sea adventures ( Mutiny on the Bounty), Brando shines. Yet Brando got tired and retired middle gradually, he chooses his films with special care. Each occurrence is equivalent to a success: "Apocalypse Now" "The Godfather" (for which he won an Oscar in 1972), "Last Tango in Paris" ...
But the disappointments of his son, who invests in the defense of the Indians and led a lifestyle excessive, forced him to run for the money, and not always in financial success: "Started in the Mafia" Don Juan De Marco "... "The Brave" allowed her to play McCarthy, the angel of Death alongside Johnny Depp, and are not, according to him, a financial issue, but a favorite.
Marlon Brando is a legend unto itself, the producers snapped up with millions of dollars - but who can also work for your eyes if it takes him. An inspiration to many actors and directors. An actor of genius who has made a living gallery of portraits impressive: Stanley Kowalski, Terry Malloy, Fletcher Christian, Mario Puzo ... These characters are unique and Marlon Brando.

Al Pacino : the legend of hollywood

Biography
Al Pacino, of Sicilian parents, has three children. Julie, born in 1992 and twins Anton and Olivia, born Jan. 25, 2001 with actress Beverly D'Angelo.
Al Pacino lives with his mother at his grandparents in Sicily. Ironically, his grandfather James was born in Corleone. Later he moved to New York in the South Bronx.
This early interest in theater and participated in small presentations to the school. At 14, he entered the High School of Performing Arts, he had to leave three years later, partly because the level of English is too low. He then embarks on a series of odd jobs, while not losing sight of the theater.
The money he saved it can integrate the Actor's Studio in 1966, where he met the actors who become famous later as Robert de Niro (called at that time Robert de Nero). With this personal success, he received his first Obie (reward for the theater) in 1968 for The Indian Wants the Bronx. The following year, he received his first Tony Award. He gets a second for the play entitled Does the Tiger Wear a Necktie (1977).
His film debut is quite noticeable. After visiting me, Nathalie de Fred Coe in 1969, he won the lead role in Panic in Needle Park (1970) Jerry Schatzberg, drama unfolding in the middle addict in Manhattan. His film career is so carried away and Al Pacino connects a series of films that range from the excellent and the masterpiece.
Indeed, in 1972, while the producers are trying to impose Robert Redford for the role of Michael Corleone in The Godfather, Francis Ford Coppola, after lengthy negotiations, chose Al Pacino, who is virtually unknown at the time.
His first encounter with Marlon Brando was very stressful for him, but remains one of the most important moments of his career as he defines himself, it will be at the hospital scene when Michael Corleone must watch his father. The rest is history: the film is a huge success and beginning of his career. The following year, he renewed his collaboration with Jerry Schatzberg for Scarecrow. Al Pacino played opposite Gene Hackman for what will be one of the most notable duets of the decade. The same year, he signed his first film with Sidney Lumet: Serpico.
With its liberal interpretation of incorruptible cop in this film that is successful at the box office .
In 1974, he resumed the role of Michael Corleone for the second part of the Godfather. This time, Robert De Niro, who plays Vito Corleone (in his youth). New huge success. This film also allows Pacino to show he can already play everything. The character of Michael Corleone, silent and cold is the opposite of Frank Serpico, the cop who probably unstable, angry and struggling in a New York very violent and corrupt police.
In 1975, Pacino plays a new character a bit unstable, a bank robber dilettante who quickly
became popular because of its inexperience in an afternoon of dog (Dog Day Afternoon) by Sydney Lumet. Two years later, he launched into melodrama with Sydney Pollack (director general of the 1970s) who is in charge of Bobby Deerfield (1977).
The 1980 start drastically to Al Pacino, as a gay actor in a very dark thriller and probably the best film by William Friedkin, The Hunt (Cruising, 1980). In 1983, the long-awaited meeting with Brian De Palma, who offered him the role of Tony Montana in Scarface remake of Howard Hawks (1932). For a generation (mainly rappers), the character of Tony Montana has become a myth and an object of fascination (with all the ambiguities involved), and Al Pacino in this role is exceptional Cuban immigrant who is experiencing phenomenal financial and social ascent in the underworld as he goes mad, as he is devoured by the paranoia and drug Mafia inherent in its
activities.
Like many great American actors, Al Pacino will be several minor roles in the 1990s. In 1990, he played Michael Corleone in The Godfather Part III. But if the 1990s are less prolific in great roles that the 1970s and allowed him to return, if not leading, at least at the stage of recognition unquestioned. Of course, Al Pacino links not only masterpieces. But we nevertheless noted that its new collaboration with Brian De Palma's success leads to another: The Impasse (Carlito's Way). In this film beautifully dark and sad, Al Pacino button again perfectly with
the character of Carlito Brigante.
First meeting between film Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in the 1995 thriller directed by Michael Mann's Heat, which tells the game of cat and mouse that engage a bank robber exception (De Niro) and a police inspector tough (Pacino) who has vowed to do stop. Pacino and De Niro is a very high level and we reserve a memorable face to face. The supporting actors, among others held by Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore and Jon Voight are also very unconvincing. The film will be dedicated to an important commercial and critical success.
In 1996, Pacino goes behind the camera to show his loyalty to the theater, with Looking for Richard, mid-adaptation of Shakespeare's Richard III, part documentary on the filming of the part in the film. After The Devil's Advocate Taylor Hackford (1997) and Donnie Brasco (1997) by Mike Newell, Al Pacino gives us two more excellent performance as an actor, first opposite Russell Crowe in The Insider , by Michael Mann, then in Any Given Sunday (Any Given Sunday) Oliver Stone.
With the film S1m0ne, screwball comedy by Andrew Niccol, Al Pacino proves once again that the public can adapt to any type of role. The following year, he played for the first time alongside Robin Williams in the remake of a Swedish film: Insomnia, the film is successful, Al Pacino is excellent in his role as cop tired and disillusioned. After Robin Williams, it was the turn of Colin Farrell co-star of the film The Recruit, starring Al Pacino.
In 2003 comes with Kim Basinger Influences and Téa Leoni, manhandled by a film critic, but saved by the excellent performance of Al Pacino. In 2003, Al Pacino participates in the project director Mike Nichols, Angels in America series, which includes six episodes of approximately one hour each. This series covers the topic of homosexuality and AIDS in the 1980s
and the difficulty of homosexuals to overcome illness. Pacino is terrific in the role of Roy Cohn, and he was at his side one of the best British actresses of the moment: Emma Thompson and Meryl Streep, Justin Kirk, Jeffrey Wright or. A rather non-conformist style for a very engaging series. Pacino's performance earned him also to be rewarded with an Emmy Award.
The Merchant of Venice (2004) marks a homecoming for Al Pacino, whose theater remained his first love, he plays the role of Shylock, a Jewish merchant, again providing Al Pacino is extraordinary.
In July 2006, Pacino shows us once again his very great talents of actors in the film from DJ Caruso, Two for the Money, in which he plays a bookie who is tough to Matthew McConaughey, an American football player forced to retire early because of a serious injury.
Finally, expected in 2007 out of 88 Minutes, Pacino film that will do everything to avoid the death that he promised on the phone. It also awaits the release of Ocean's Thirteen, the latest installment in the saga of Daniel Ocean and his cronies. Can follow Monster of Longwood and The Torch.
It is also in post-production of a new documentary of the same type as the one he has already done with Shakespeare's Richard III, which this time will discuss the work Salome by Oscar Wilde. He will play the role of King Herod. It will also be a movie poster of Jon Avnet, with whom he has collaborated on 88 minutes, in which he will partner Robert De Niro. The film, which will be named Rightous Kill, will present the two actors as police on the heels of a killer. This is the third collaboration of the two men after The Godfather II and Heat.
