Biography


Jack Nicholson comes from a very poor family, of Irish origin. He was born April 22, 1937 in Neptune, New Jersey. Her mother, who was then a 14 year old girl confided to her parents and pretends to be her sister. Jack Nicholson only discovered this story in 1975, when Time magazine decided to investigate its origins. He will never know her father, an aviator alcoholic, who leaves his mother and himself, from his birth.

At 17, he moved to Los Angeles to take acting classes. He made his debut in Hollywood by multiplying the odd jobs. It is particularly errand boy for MGM. We discover notably in The Terror, a classic B-series directed by Roger Coremans, as an actor at the side of Boris Karloff, but also as co-director. He also made numerous appearances on television series.

It is actually discovered by the public in 1969 in Easy Rider with Dennis Hopper. This cult road movie tells the tragic story of the wanderings of two motorcyclists in America in the 70. That role earned him an Oscar nomination.

Therefore, he has acted and is found especially in Five easy pieces (1970) Bob Rafelson, The Last Detail (1973) Hal Ashby, Chinatown (1974) by Roman Polanski ...

The year 1975 was the year of recognition for Jack Nicholson. Milos Forman offered him the lead role in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, a film that feeling. He plays the role of McMurphy, a most dangerous criminals to escape prison, poses as a lunatic and enters a mental hospital. His masterful performance is the result of intense preparation and methodical drives him to attend the asylums and immerse themselves among fools. It earned him his first Oscar for best actor.

One finds the following year in The Last Tycoon Elia Kazan and in The Missouri Breaks, Arthur Penn, with Marlon Brando is somehow the idol Jack Nicholson. In 1978, he began directing with Goin'south which is a failure.

In 1980, Stanley Kubrick offered him one of the finest roles of his career in the terrifying The Shining. It interprets a writer in search of inspiration that came to stay with his wife and son, a boy with a strange power in a deserted hotel and isolated, murderous past. Gradually possessed by the spirit of play, it goes insane and tries to murder his family. We offer, through a range of expressions most disturbing and terrifying as each other, a masterful performance that remains in our memories.

The 80 will see him take on roles of characters disorders, alcoholic, a little crazy and marginal. He plays in The Postman Always include fewer spectators ring (1981) Bob Rafelson and Terms of endearment (1983) James.L. Brooks. In 1989, he becomes the Joker, demonic and cruel character who seeks to poison the people of Gotham City in Batman of Tim Burton. In 1996, the latter will provide a very impressive double role in his film spoof Mars Attacks!.

In 1995, we were able to admire the beautiful film by Sean Penn, Crossing Guard, a father seeking by every means to avenge the death of his daughter, thrown by an ex-con who tries to rebuild his life. Finally in 1997, he surprised everyone by changing the registry in the film by James L. Brooks, As Good as It Gets. It interprets a New York writer, cantankerous, eccentric and misanthropic whose life and daily routines will be disturbed by the encounter with a waitress friendly, Helen Hunt. It is surprising in that role so he gets a third Oscar for best actor.

It has long been the companion of Angelica Huston, who left after one of the friends of their daughter gave birth to a child by him.
