Robert De Niro is an American actor born August 17, 1943 in New York. He is best known for his roles in films by Martin Scorsese, Sergio Leone, Brian de Palma or Bernardo Bertolucci.
Son of the painter namesake Robert De Niro, he was born in 1943 in New York in a family of Italian-Irish and Catholic. Robert De Niro was first a student of Stella Adler before entering the famous Actors Studio under the direction of Lee Strasberg, to increase opportunities for her future career.
He began his acting career on stage on Broadway before discovering the world of cinema in 1968 in Greetings (directed by Brian De Palma's). Subsequently, he took a few film roles that have remained little known to the public. He became known in the Last Match (Bang the Drum Slowly) (1973). Also in 1973 he began working with Martin Scorsese film Mean Streets. He founded his production company, Tribeca Productions, called Tribeca neighborhood of New York in which he lives.
